Description
Brantôme, 1943
Even though peace seems unattainable, Albane savors a moment of happiness by marrying Raphaël after a long wait. Alas, German soldiers interrupt the ceremony by arresting a little girl.
This Louisette, the illegitimate child of Albane's deceased husband, claims to know her. Moved by the orphan's plight, who hides a dark secret, the young woman welcomes her into the castle, which has become a refuge for the destitute and the persecuted.
While the occupants of the estate feel safe there, the German reprisals against resistance fighters and civilians in the region are escalating in violence. Albane constantly worries about Raphaël's fate, fearing she will give birth to their baby alone.
Despite the turmoil, the rumor of an Allied landing on the Atlantic coast rekindles hope for liberation...
