Even though peace seems unattainable, Albane savors a moment of happiness by marrying Raphaël after a long wait. Alas, German soldiers interrupt the ceremony by arresting a little girl.
This Louisette, the illegitimate child of Albane's deceased husband, claims to know her. Moved by the orphan's plight, who hides a dark secret, the young woman welcomes her into the castle, which has become a refuge for the destitute and the persecuted.
