1977. Jacques Charon finally manages to make his mark. University has become an environment in which he feels perfectly at ease. However, the real finish line is not obtaining his diploma, but rather a job. This means he has to redouble his efforts to get ahead of the other students, including those with whom he faced the difficult early years of his bachelor's degree. An inevitable competition sets in between him and his companions.

And love in all of this? Jacques has the unpleasant impression of no longer being part of the world he left behind, while not yet belonging to the one he is evolving in. This makes any form of commitment complicated for him. Moreover, how does one learn to initiate and nurture a romantic relationship? But necessity sometimes makes one creative, to the point of inventing a relationship which, in the second half of the 1970s, did not yet have a name: friends with benefits.
