Description

In December 2004, a tsunami struck Sri Lanka, a country already torn apart by a twenty-year civil war. Abenaki journalist Jean-Nicholas Legendre was dispatched to the scene while struggling to cope with his own personal devastation, the loss of his wife and daughter. Assigned to cover the aftermath of the disaster, he traveled to the north, controlled by the Tamil Tigers, who were fighting against the central government. His encounter with one of the rebel leaders, who had taken up arms to free themselves from the yoke of the Sinhalese majority, led him to reconsider the situation of First Nations people in Quebec and the attitude of the authorities towards them. Confronted with the distress of a country in crisis, would Jean-Nicholas be able to accept the tragedy that had shattered his life and find peace again?
