Description
Chambord, Lac-Saint-Jean, 1901 When Thomas Fortin, a young family man, suddenly loses his job, the future of his small clan is threatened. By a stroke of luck, he hears about a pulpmill project at the foot of the Ouiatchouan River waterfall, located in a neighboring town. The factory opens some time later and Thomas is hired. Propelled by a wind of modernity, the region develops and will see the birth of Val-Jalbert, a brand new municipality founded by the company itself. The prosperity of the area attracts many families who are promised a dream life. But behind the promises lies a reality of sacrifices, tensions, and tenacious hopes. Over the years, Thomas and his loved ones will see the town grow and transform. Their destinies will be marked by deep friendships, family dramas, but also great and small joys. Through the eyes of the Fortins, we discover a sensitive and embodied historical fresco, bringing to life the soul of a community shaped by work, solidarity, and the passage of time.
