Hope in exile

Description

February 1837. Nathanael Lamport, a Frenchman who emigrated to the United States, tragically lost his wife and children in the American Midwest. Devastated, he left the country and settled in Canada, where he hoped to build a quieter life. After a long and dangerous journey, he finally arrived in the small village of Sainte-Elégie, near the border. Nathanael decided to settle there and clear some land, while he befriended several of the inhabitants. He became particularly attached to Manon Labrie, the village blacksmith, as well as to Elise Arsenault, who had arrived from the United States, just like him. While Nathanael sought to escape hostilities and simply wanted to live in peace, he was unaware that trouble was about to catch up with him. Revolt was brewing among the people of Lower Canada, while the Patriotes were preparing for rebellion. Soon, tensions reach their peak, and Nathanael can no longer escape the clashes that come knocking at Sainte-Elégie's door. He, who longed for happiness in the arms of his new love, will soon find himself trapped in conflicts with far-reaching consequences that will leave no one unscathed.
