Description
Nish: an Innu word meaning "two." This word is also intimately linked to the unique experience of being Indigenous. Léon and Eloïse lead extraordinary lives. First, they are twins. Living as a pair, especially during adolescence, isn't always easy. In Matimekush, an Innu community in Northern Quebec, their daily lives will be forever changed. A mysterious disappearance in the village will lead them to understand the fragility that surrounds them, the territory, and its dangers. While working on a school project, Eloïse makes a disturbing discovery. Through conversations with her kukum (Innu sister), she uncovers the history of her people: their victories, but also their lost battles. Eloïse and her two best friends will do everything they can to expose these injustices. Léon, meanwhile, spends all his free time playing hockey. However, his community doesn't have enough players for him to thrive in a top-level league. How can he prove to everyone that he has the talent of a great player? The twins' lives are turned upside down when their father learns he has a serious illness and must be treated in Quebec City, far, far away from his family: 942 kilometers south, to be exact. Will Léon and Eloïse be able to come together to get through this ordeal?
