Houston, 1975. A new Apollo mission is launched into orbit, en route to dock with a Russian Soyuz spacecraft: three NASA astronauts and three Soviet cosmonauts come together to celebrate a new era of cooperation. But as NASA flight controller Kaz Zemeckis listens in from Earth, a fatal accident changes everything.
Meanwhile, from a remote location in East Asia, another spacecraft is launched in secret. Aboard is China's first astronaut, whose mission will pit him against the Apollo crew. As Kaz battles an enemy on Earth and searches for answers beyond the skies, the astronauts' safety is at stake.
