Description
Valérie Soulières was eleven years old when two masked and armed men burst into the Soulières Construction trailer and threatened to shoot her father if he didn't hand over the week's earnings. In the summer of her eighteenth birthday, she bought a pistol, a Glock 17L, which she would never part with, even during her studies at Polytechnique. She was determined to protect herself.
Once she graduated, she took over the family business. She soon discovered that Soulières et Fille was excluded from the club of major contractors who shared all contracts from the City of Laval. For Valérie, keeping silent about these shady dealings was out of the question. She was ready to do anything to bring this band of crooks to heel, even if it meant beating them at their own game. She managed to secure a contract for an overpass above Highway 15. When the structure collapsed due to a construction defect, she knew she would have to fight for her life. But what her adversaries didn't know was that she had all the weapons she would need to defend herself.
Between opulent mansions and farms, playgrounds and strip clubs, André Noël paints a true-to-life portrait of a large suburban city caught in the clutches of corrupt entrepreneurs and elected officials.
